Thorpe-St-Andrew And District
Horticultural Society

We are a very friendly group of 'forty somethings' (and upward) who meet every 3rd Wednesday
of the month, except August when the Annual Show is held. Our group consists of a
range of interests and there is a good source of moderate to high experience in both
flowers and vegetables.

Every meeting we have a table show covering different aspects of the horticultural topics, each person is awarded points for their entries and the person with the biggest score at the end of the year wins a cup. All cups and prizes are awarded at our annual show. At our meetings we also
sell seeds and plants to each other for a very moderate price.

In October we hold our annual Harvest Lunch at a local hostel, and at Christmas we hold a
party with professional entertainment. Other events include our annual club quiz
where we compete with 2 other local clubs on garden and horticultural related questions
- we take it in turns to host the event.

Members often open their gardens to club members, (plus friends and family) during one
Sunday in the early summer. The opportunity is open to all members and sizes of garden range from half an acre to postage stamp sized - it gives us all a chance to learn something!

The programme of meetings is also filled with a variety of guest speakers who cover everything
from flower arranging, to vegetables.
